Some squads fly international for beach weekend getaways and some stay local and find tons of adventurous things to do. It’s totally up to you and your personality.

Best Man

The best-man is the groom’s right hand man. He is the guy that the groom turns to for advice, assistance, and delegation. He plays a major role in the couple’s wedding day. The best-man stands by the groom’s side to support him in anyway possible before and on the day of the wedding.

Bridal Party

The bridal party is everyone who will be standing next to the bride and groom on their wedding day. These individuals are the chosen ones. The bridal party is made up of bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower-girls, ring bearers, a best man, and a maid-of-honor/maitron of honor. The bridal party color coordinates according to the couple’s theme and color scheme, creating a picturesque vibe to your special day.

Bridal Shower

A party held for the bride, usually hosted by the bridal party. There will be lots of gift giving during this event. The bride will literally be showered with gifts. How amazing! This is an event you won’t want to skip. So drop little hints to your girls so they don’t skip a beat.

Bridezilla

A BRIDEZILLA is something that you definitely DO NOT want to be. No one likes a bridezilla! She is a woman who is very demanding and obsessive throughout the wedding planning process. Her behavior is actually intolerable. It’s safe to say, please do not aspire to be a bridezilla! You will probably end up in really bad and unneccesary coils with your squad or family members which won’t end well. Remember, you want people to show up happy to your special day.

C

Ceremony

A wedding ceremony usually takes place at a someone’s home, a courthouse, church, venue, and more. Couples are beginning to get real trendy on where they host their wedding events. The ceremony is where two people are united in marriage. Most ceremonies involve an exchange of marriage vows, rings, a presentation of family customs and traditions, and a proclamation of marriage by an authority figure, priest, minister, celebrant, or officiant.

Cocktail Hour

The cocktail hour is a great way for wedding guests to socialize while the bridal party and family members take photos. Couples tend to add special details and decor to their cocktail hour areas to showcase their personality as a couple. Decorating your cocktail hour with photos of your family history or family members who are no longer with us, signature drink signs, guests signing items, and plenty more. The cocktail hour is our favorite hour and I’m pretty sure wedding guests love it too! This hour is usually full of light drinks and hors’ douvers. Bridal party members and wedding guests tend to forget to eat on the day of the wedding. So, implementing a cocktail hour in your wedding experience would be ideal to hold everyone over until dinner is served.

Catering

Everyone’s favorite element of any wedding is the food and drinks. Catering is usually provided by the venue or outsourced from a private caterer. When planning for weddings of 100+, you really need to plan on, Who is providing the food and beverages? You can find anything from $50 per person to $200 per person. It really depends on who your caterer is and what kind of cuisine you are looking for. Wedding Catering styles can be anywhere from buffet, family style, or seated dinner. If you need a good tip on how to cut cost and keep the vibe inclusive, family-style dining will be your best bet. It’s a great way to allow your guests to interact with one another.

D

Day-of-Coordinator

A day-of-coordinator is the person who takes on the responsibilities of the wedding on the day 0f. They ensure the couple’s wedding is executed well and according to their plan. A day-of-coorinator can assist couples in confirming details and arrangements with vendors, check-off final items on their wedding planning checklist, and produce the entire event on your behalf, so both the bride and groom can enjoy a stress-free wedding experience. He or She is a LIFESAVER! Imagine forgetting to purchase a flower girl basket 2-weeks prior to the big day, or your florist forgetting 4 centerpieces, anyone would freak out. Hiring a day-of-coordinator allows the couple the security to have everything taken care without having to blink twice.

Destination Wedding

If a couple is planning their wedding some place other than their hometown, then a destination wedding is exactly what it is. Couples tend to think that their only planning a destination wedding if they are flying overseas for their celebration. However, that’s not necessarily the case. If the couple or their guests has to make any travel accommodations to attend the event, its technically considered a destination wedding. Of course planning a destination wedding on a beach in Jamaica or cruising the rivers of Italy,

Decor

Decor would be anything considered to decorate a room or event. Typically used to stage the style and layout of an event and decorate it according to your theme. Some wedding themes require minimal decor and others require a number of rentals to achieve the desired look.

DIY

Couples who would like to be hands on during their wedding planning process or projects are considered DIY couples, which is an acronym for “Do It Yourself”. If you think you would enjoy creating custom favors, gifts, or invitations with your circuit machine or any other tools you would be considered a DIY bride or groom. If you also choose to not hire a wedding planner to guide you in planning your big day, you would also be considered a DIY couple.

Detail

When planning a wedding, it’s imperative to pay attention to the details because the details matter. You’ll want to make sure that every element up to the big day matches your wedding theme and aesthetic. If your wedding color scheme white and various hues of blue and blush, you’l want. to ensure your save-the-dates, website, and invitations are compatible in design to keep the aesthetic fresh. This will also help guests get an understanding of the vibe you are looking for on the big day. Some weddings are casual, formal or black tie, and usually you’ll want to express this in your wedding planning and wedding day details.

Design

Theme and design are cousins, and go together like peanut butter and jelly. Once you’ve figured out what wedding theme and color scheme you would like for your wedding day, you’ll want to focus on your design. Planning your wedding’s design can be a tricky process. When you think of design think of styles, tables capes, florals, rental quantities, and floorpans.

E

Elopement

Shhh…it’s a secret! Are you thinking about getting married privately, with no one wedding guests, family members, or friends? Then you are probably considering to elope. An elopement is usually planned when the couple doesn’t want or care of anyone else’s approval. They just want to do they’re own thing without the opinions of others. You can fly to a private island or go down to your local city hall. As long as it’s just you and your significant other you can ensure your day will be your way.

Emergency Kit

An emergency kit is every couple’s saving grace. You’ll be a fool not to purchase or create one. No one ever thinks “what happens in case of emergency?”, and there are plenty of mishaps that’s can occur. The bride might rip a seem in her dress and need a sewing kit, a bridesmaid might need nail polish because she forgot to get her nails done, a groomsman might need a piece of gum after eating snacks, or the groom may need Advil because he had way too much fun the night before. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, so think of all the wedding fiascos that can occur and create an emergency kit that will get you through the big day.

Entertainment

Your wedding is one thing short without any entertainment, which is usually the highlight of the night. Your wedding DJ or live band will be sure to have your guests on the dance floor. However, modern weddings are opting for more ways to entertain their guests. They are implementing lawn games in their outdoor experience, live painters, photo booths and plenty more.

Escort Card

If you are big on detail, escort cards should be almost mandatory for your special day. They are the perfect addition to any seating chart, especially if you want to ensure guests sit next to their plus one, if given one, or family members can sit next to each other if seated at a table with people they may not know. Escort cards bring a sense of elegance to any event, ensuring that everyone has a seat withput any hassle.

Etiquette

Simply just a code of what should be expected at your wedding, from when to send out invitations, what your guests should wear, how to tip vendors, and plenty more. No matter how traditional or non-traditional of a couple you are, there are just some wedding etiquette you don’t skip. Weddings are very special events and should be treated as such.

E-cards

Couples are opting out of all of the frills and going full-blown paperless. Let’s go-green! E-cards are electronic stationary that you send to your guests to inform them of wedding events. E-cards are very trendy and can help save tons of money.

Experience

Your wedding day should not just be any ol’ wedding day, it should be an experience. No matter what your budget is, you should be celebrating your day, your way. So make sure you are living your best dreams with your favorite people, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

F

First Look

A first look is a new trend that couples are absolutely loving. They are no longer waiting for the walk down the aisle and opting for more of an intimate experience, where the groom gets to see the bride for the first time my himself, before their guests. If you are thinking about doing a first look, I highly suggest it! You’re groom will be more inclined to cry in private than in front of crowd. And, who’s to say he won’t cry twice.

First Dance

The first dance is the most special dance of the night and typically the best way to get the reception started. Pick a song that resonates with the both of you as a couple, and dance on the clouds. Your guests will be swarming around the dance floor taking photos and adoring the love in the room.

Favors

Favors are gifts you give too your guests to thank them for coming. My favorite types of favors are edible favors, because they are always going to be used, and guests usually make sure they don’t leave edible favors behind. Try gifting your guests personalized bottles of olive oil or hot sauce, jars of jam, s’more kits and plenty more.

Father-of-the-bride

The Father-of-the-bride is exactly what it sounds like. The bride’s father is usually responsible for walking the bride down the aisle and giving her away to her groom.

Flowergirl

A flower girl is the bride’s mini-me. She usually dresses in the color of the bridal party or in white like the bride. She comes down the aisle right before the bride and drops florals down the aisle as she welcomes the bride for her grand entrance.

Flowers

Food Menu Card

Food menu cards are definitely optional, however they bring an elegant touch to your tablescape. If you did not add menu options on the RSVP card, menu cards will be a great way to let your guests know what’s on the menu before the waiter comes to the table or the buffet line begins.

G

Golden Hour

The last hour before sunset and the first hour of sunrise - the best time to take outdoor wedding photos. The golden hour, also known as the “magic hour”, is the best time to provide the perfect lighting to capture amazing wedding photos. Ask your photographer about golden hour shots prior to booking them to ensure they can provide you with captivating wedding photos.

Gift Registry

Gifts, Gifts, Gifts! Everyone loves gifts. However, its not polite to ask. Adding a gift registry to your website will help guests know what you need or desire as a couple. There are thousands of registries to choose from by Zola, Target, Crate and Barrel, and plenty more Add items like an air fryer, bedding and more household appliances so moving in together or welcoming a new home aesthetic is easy.

Guests Book

Your guests book is an overlooked element of your wedding day, but its really very important. You’ll want to thank all of your guests for attending your event. Couples are finding creative ways for guests to let them know they were in attendance from vintage phone voicemails, phonebooks, puzzle pieces and plenty more. Find a guests signing item that matches your wedding theme so it feels like decor not stationary.

Guests List

Your Guest list is also high on your wedding planning priority list! You’ll want to invite all of the important people in both of your lives to witness your nuptials. Create an A-list and B-list to help you eliminate who you should and should not invite. Most venues require a guests capacity minimum and you’ll want to get a head start on who’s getting a hot seat at the big event.

Guests

Your guests is everyone who is on your guests list. So, you’ll want to treat them just as such. Treat them to a captivating night, full of fun and love.

Grand Entrance

That moment you and your bridal party arrive at the reception, after everyone has already found their seats. Couples tend to choreograph dances or skits to welcome themselves to the party.

Groom

A man who is about to be married or who is newlywed. He is also the star of the show. He is sharp, well dressed and exudes gentleman-like behaviors. As a socialite groom, you know it’s imperative to be apart of the wedding planning process and help your significant other throughout the process.

Groomsman

The man who is your brother or brother you never had. He can be your cousin, or one of your best-friends. He is an all-around amazing guy you want to share your day with. Your day would totally incomplete without him!

H

Head Table

Let’s not get your head table and sweetheart table mixed up. They are similar but also very different. Your head table is where the bride and groom sit at the reception, but it is a table set for them and their wedding party or any special family members or friends they would like to join them. A head table is great way to make your wedding party feel special and enjoy the reception with the happy couple.

Honeymoon

Its time to celebrate being newly weds with your honey, on a romantic escape, with just the two of you. Travel abroad, road trip to another state, or staycation at a local hotel of your choice. If thinking of traveling some place exotic, research resorts in Aruba, Jamaica, or airbnb stays In Greece or Ibiza. A tropical breeze, palm trees, and clear waters doesn’t sound like a bad idea, does it? But neither does booking the honeymoon suite at the Standard hotel, doing something new and touring your city, sounds like a great idea, as well. It’s totally up to you. But definitely celebrate your nuptials, look back at photos of the night and enjoy each others company as a newly-wed couple.

Hotel Accommodations

If you planning to invite out-of-town guests, you’ll definitely want to make hotel accommodations for them to have a smooth stay once they arrive at there destination. You can find hotel deals and group discounts at many of your local hotels. Some guests are even opting for group or personal airbnb stays. So providing hotel accommodations or nearby lodging options on your website can be very helpful for your wedding guests,

Hair Stylist

Every bride wants to feel beautiful on her wedding day, and a part of bridal beauty on the big day is hiring a hairstylist to help you achieve your desired looked. If you are a DIY bride, it’s totally okay to not want to hire a professional, simply because you can “do it yourself”. However, if you desire some luxury on your special hire someone to pamper you.

I

Invitations

Your wedding invitations are your guests first glimpse into your wedding day, so you want to make sure it sells the experience, and they pop. There are so many options available, from different styles and shapes, to digital and printed stationary. Decide whether you are going to opt for digital e-vites versus printed invitation suites. If saving money and the environment is your thing, e-vites are definitely your thing. However, if you would prefer more of a traditional experience, order invitation cards that matches your wedding’s theme and aesthetic.

Itinerary

Ever met someone that knows they need to be somewhere or doing something on a specific day but did not really plan the day out well, so it did not go according to their plan? Yeah, that’s why I am huge on creating an itinerary before I host any event or go on a vacation, because I just don’t to skip a beat. Your wedding day should be treated with the same kind of luxury and attention. Give yourself the grace of knowing what time hair and make-up will begin, what time the photographer will arrive, what time the ceremony will commence and what time dinner will be served. You just want to know the order of the day to give your self an overview of how your special day will flow. Your itinerary will guide any of your wedding day vendors on how you want your big day to go.

Inspirations

Pinterest is the best way to gather your wedding inspirations. Download and pin photos that inspire you and gives you ideas on how you would like to decorate, wear your hair, what dress you’d like to wear, or what kind of floral bouquet you want. Research all of the things that will make your wedding day special. Copy the link of your Pinterest board and share with anyone who is assisting you in your wedding planning process. if you are old-school like me or simply just like to be hands-on, get an display and a few magazines and go to work on cutting out your favorite photos that inspire you and create a vision board.. .Hang it up on your wall or display it someone where you can always see it, so your ideas are fresh in your brain.

A micro wedding will typically consist of a guests list of up to 20-50 people made up of close family members and friends. Due to the COVID-19, many couples have opted for smaller wedding experiences to ensure social distancing. However, it has been a big hit with saving money and keeping the event intimate, so, I think micro wedding trend is here to stay. Invite your closest family members and friends and celebrate like there is no tomorrow. Create an a-list and b-list to decide who gets a hot seat at your special event.

Minimony

A small wedding ceremony consisting of 10 guests maximum. Thanks to the Pandemic, Minimonies are super trendy. Calling all glam brides!! If getting pampered is your thing and you love to get dolled up, hire a make-up artist for your wedding day to achieve your desired wedding day look..
