How to Stay Organized While Planning Your Wedding

Wedding planning is always a fun idea during the beginning phases of the process. However, as time goes along and you begin booking vendors, discovering new DIY tasks, and purchasing decor, its easy to get lost in the sauce while planning your big day. So, organization will be the key to your success and will help you stay calm throughout your wedding planning journey. If you have ever planned a birthday party this is ten times the planning and execution. Every couple wants their wedding day to be perfect, and without good organizational skills, you will surely get frustrated and want to give up. Let us give you some professional tips on how to stay organized during your wedding planning journey and how to stay calm throughout the process.

Wedding Planning Binder

Creating or purchasing a wedding planning binder will help you keep all of your wedding related ideas, contracts, swatches, and more in one place. Having everything scattered in different places will cause major confusion when meeting with vendors or discussing plans with your partner. If everything is inside your wedding planning binder, it will be easy to find everything all at once. In your wedding planning binder you should have a list of all of your vendors and create a special section to stay up to date with how much you have spent and what you have agreed to legally. Adding your wedding vision board to your binder will also keep your inspirations fresh in your brain. Yes, it is fine to change your mind about certain wedding specifics, but you should always keep your original plan handy just incase your vision is blurred because of unsolicited advice or lack of funding.

Wedding Planning Checklist/To-do List

A wedding planning checklist will help couples complete wedding tasks and remind them of how much time they have left on specific tasks. Checking off your checklist is the best way to stay organized and will ensure you do not skip a beat. Check your checklist weekly if you are a type A individual who wants things to be perfect and if you are a more relaxed bride you should try to check your checklist at least twice a month. Remember most weddings are planning between a 6-12 month time frame. Download our 6-12 Month BOSS Bride Wedding Planning Checklist to help you stay organized during your wedding planning journey.

Money Jar/Savings Account

Yes, we know it is the 21st Century and purchases are usually made electronically but for the couples who are old school and like to save money the old fashioned way with cash. Storing money in a cash jar labeled Wedding Fund will help you keep your savings in it’s designated space and also give you motivation to save more. Now, if you are a more modern couple, create a savings account with your bank so you don’t dabble in your funds for your special day.

Storage Bins

Keeping all of your wedding items and decor in storage bins will help you not lose any of them in the mix with your household items. Often times in the middle of cleaning up, somehow things get swarmed in the clean-up and either get thrown away or put in location where you won’t be able to find it for months. Storage Bins may take up some space, but at least you will know exactly where everything is.

Labels

When storing your items in storage, be sure to organize your bins by purpose (I.e, Tablescapes, Ceremony Decor, Sweetheart Table, Wedding Signs, etc.). This will help you or your wedding designer know exactly what is what and where it should go. Leaving absolutely no room for mistakes. You’ll also want to label your wedding planning binder as well with tabs or dividers, to help you find specific sheets easily.

Wedding Email Address

You’ll want to create a special email address specifically for your wedding correspondence. Too many times do emails get lost in between all of the other emails we have from online shops, work, and other entities we have relationships with. Creating a special email will help keep all of your wedding emails in one place when going through correspondence with emails or wedding purchases you have made. (I.e thewalkerswedding@gmail.com, meetthewalkers@yahoo.com, the walkers2023@hotmail.com, etc.)
