ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN B!

The Bridal and Wedding industry has been affected drastically due to the Corona Virus, better known as COVID-19. Bridal salons, venues, and vendors have shut down and have temporarily gone out of business, and many couples are forced to postpone or even cancel their big event. This year has totally taken a toll on all of us! Wouldn't you agree? However, instead of letting all of the madness get to us, I wanted to share some of my #SophieDApproved tips, tricks, and to-dos to help couples get through this rough patch. COVID-19, you will not win this war, when LOVE is the answer. Pay attention to the following tips and see how planning becomes so much more stress-free:

1. DO NOT CANCEL!

Although, you may want to give up, I am urging you to keep the faith. I mean this is YOUR wedding day we're talking about. This moment is very special and something you should definitely experience. Be the BOSS of your own Wedding Day experience. I highly suggest postponing your wedding because it will be your best bet. Yes, it may not be exactly what you expected because you'll most likely have to change which season it will be in, how many guests can attend, or even opt out of your dream location, but the beauty of it all, you'll be married to the love of your life.

2. DISCUSS OPTIONS WITH YOUR VENUES & VENDORS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Call or Email your venue coordinator and vendors ASAP! Discuss what kind of impact COVID19 has had on their business and if it will affect your wedding day, no matter what date your event is on. Of course, each vendor will probably respond differently, but I'm pretty sure vendors will not mind rescheduling. Chat about cancellation policies and any fees or non-refundable deposits. It's best to know where you stand with your venue/vendors before continuing to plan or purchasing any items toward your big day.

3. I HIGHLY SUGGEST, HIRING A WEDDING PLANNER/PROFESSIONAL

A wedding planner can absolutely ease some of your stress, while trying to figure out a plan B. They can facilitate most of your correspondence with your venue/vendors, so you don’t have to feel like you're doing everything yourself. After all, many of us have been forced to work from home, home school our kids, or even cook more meals throughout the day which is stress in itself. A planner will be your saving grace throughout this process, because they are professionally equipt to do the job, and I am not just saying this because I am a wedding planner. It is a well known fact.

4. READ WEDDING BLOGS DAILY

You can find tons of updates on venues/vendors on various blogs, and lots of tips on how to coupe throughout this process. Blogs will help you feel like you're not alone and give you a place to stay encouraged about your wedding day.

5. HAVE AN INTIMATE AT-HOME WEDDING

If you just absolutely CANNOT wait to marry the love of your life, you can also opt out of the big shabang and do a private at-home ceremony with a maximum of 10 guests (the closest of the closest of your friends and family) and allow some of your other guests who were previously invited to your original event to enjoy your ceremony virtually on apps like Zoom or Houseparty..
