5 Ways To Help Brides Be Bougie Instead of Boozy On The Big Day !

Sip, Sip, Hooray! Your wedding day is definitely one of the biggest days of your life, and it’s a great cause for celebration. But, we never take in account about what happens if there is too much celebration. This day is definitely not a reason to get wasted! Your going to want to remember every moment from your very special day from the moment you wake up to very last dance.

I felt like I needed to talk to my SOPHisticated Brides, because it is becoming a pretty normal scenario. I’ve coordinated Wedding days where brides have drank wine straight from the bottle to get rid of wedding jitters, taken shots all morning to get her own party started, and either passed out during cocktail hour or cursed out her entire wedding party. Let’s just say we don’t want that to be you! So let’s be mindful of our wine & spirits intake so we can remain in good spirits for the big day.

So, sip away, but be careful. If you need a little help, here’s our how-to on how to avoid getting wasted on your wedding day.

  1. Rehearse at The Wedding Rehearsal Dinner

Let’s just say your Rehearsal Dinner is your Wedding day Trial run. If you can’t drink responsibly the night before, 9 times out of 10 you definitely won’t have any restraint the day-of, especially if you’re nervous. Give yourself a 2-4 Drink maximum the night of your Rehearsal (Every brides intake is different). It will guide you on how many drinks you can possibly take during cocktail hour + the reception.

  2. Breakfast > Brunch

I’m a New Yorker so Brunch Vibes are always a go! However on your wedding day you’ll want to make sure you fill your stomach with a hearty breakfast to ensure you can manage the day and be the Sophisticated bride you are. When we think of breakfast, we think of food. However, when we think of Brunch, we think of Draaanks! Mimosas, Bellinis, and Bloody Mary’s to be exact.

Let your Squad know you will be doing breakfast in the Bridal Suite instead of Brunch to set the tone. You can even add “Mimosa’s & Bellini’s to follow”. So you and your ladies can still have fun. I just highly suggest filling your stomach first.

The same thing goes for the Groom and his groomsmen. Cognac, Beer, and Chips just isn’t going to do it. Surprise your Groom and his guys to a sophisticated breakfast experience just like your own. I’m pretty sure there’ll be doing wayyyy more heavy drinking.

  3. Create Signature Drinks

Creating Signatures helps you control the alcohol intake for everyone in your wedding party including yourself. Knowing exactly what is in the drink and how the drink was made makes a world of difference. Sipping on one kind of drink for the entire day definitely beats mixing your wines and spirits. Mixing light and dark never ends well. Have you ever seen a Bridezilla? Don’t let that be you!

  4. Avoid Shot O’clock

During Cocktail Hour, basque in the moment with your groom and enjoy hors d'oeuvres and maybe a glass of champagne in your bridal suite. Allow your Wedding Party to indulge with you, but make it clear that you want to avoid getting too boozy. They can definitely enjoy and mingle with the guests and welcome themselves to the bar if necessary. But hold your ground and definitely set boundaries. The peer pressure will be on.

  5. Make a Partner Pact

You and your groom owe it to each other, to make an agreement of how you both want the day to go. You’ll want to take your partner into consideration all the way through. If you guys are sharing wedding vows, I believe it would be super helpful to create pre-wedding promises as well. Try something like “I vow to honor our wedding day, entirely by being loving, responsible, safe, and most importantly fun.”

After all, you guys are about to promise each other forever so there is plenty of time to get Drunk together. Your Honeymoon is right around the corner! You guys can get as drunk as you want and enjoy each other’s company in your own space.
